We were able to see the horses and jockeys close up before the race. The jockeys each weigh 120 pounds, with the clothes, helmets, and so-called saddles. The saddles are just tiny pieces of plastic to support the little loops of plastic they use for stirrups. The jockeys have to crouch, balancing in the air on those two little pieces of plastic, for the whole race.
